Antietam Creek Celebration

September 10, 2019 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

To launch the new school year, Renfrew Institute invites area middle and high school age students, and their friends and families, to an Antietam Creek Celebration on Tuesday, Sept.10 at 3:30 p.m.

The event is focused on WaterStriders, a free after-school water science program for 6th grade and up, that is welcoming new members.

“Students and their families will learn about WaterStriders and water quality testing,” said Kristie Rhodes, institute faculty member and WaterStrider instructor.

“The event will also be fun,” Rhodes said. “We’ll have creek play time—students should wear water clothes and shoes, and bring floats or tubes—as well as crayfish catch and release and more.”

A potluck picnic is planned, with hot dogs provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share, and their own beverages.

Interested students are asked to RSVP to Rhodes at: [email protected]

Parking is available behind the visitors center, or in Renfrew’s lower lot off Welty Road. In case of rain or for more information, please call the institute at 717-762-0373.
